What has been done to solve animal abuse?

well there are programs that educate people that animals feel pain too and that it can be dangerous to abuse an animal because that said animal could become violent and hurt someone that it is illegal to a certain extent.

Programs aren't the only things preventing animal cruelty, people just like me all over the world are also helping to rescue animals. For example I have a 12 year old chow who was owned by a very abusive family, and one day they came by and asked if we could take care of her for a few days. Well ya know what, they didn't give us food for her, she hadn't had any of her shots, and was abused on a daily basis. It took over 2 years for her to overcome her fear of brooms, vaccums, shoes, even the sound of my mom's heels on the floor would spook her. And do you know what they did after 4 years of them just leaving poor Bear (thats her name) with us, they had the nerve to come back and ask for her back! Well... before Bear there was another dog named Shelby with us and at the time she still was... so when the lady and her husband just decided to waltz on in to our house Shelby grabbed the lady by the hand, not hard enough to break the skin, but hard enough so that it hurt, and wouldn't let go until the lady and her husband got out of our house. So there you have it, its not just programs, but everyday people like us who every day have the oppurtunity to save an animal at risk. P.S. Sorry for the long story.

No matter what people do, going vegan or becoming an activist or anything of that matter, animal cruelty cannot be completely stopped. There's always going to be some form of animal cruelty that will be around forever, and really this depends on the individual's viewpoints of what really is cruel and what isn't and their level of understanding of that particular scenario. Some people see certain activities as cruel, but others do not.

Other Answers:Well, sadly it can't be completely "stopped", there will always be people out there who will abuse animals. But you can help prevent it (and save a life!) by joining a campaign, signing petitions, don't by leather/fur/puppies from puppy mills (pet stores) and etc., adopt from shelters, setting a good example for others, donating to nonprofit charities dedicated to homeless and displaced animals worldwide, keeping an eye out for animal cruelty and immediately reporting it if you see it. You could build awareness websites and try to raise money to donate to shelters that help animals. Mostly, try to build awareness on how bad animal cruelty is.

Many developed and educated country's have set up organizations backed by the law of the land that protect animals against cruelty. However there is still along way to go everywhere in the world.

May I just start and say that animal abuse is a never ending battle.

In many countries such as UK, USA, New Zealand, India, Sweden, Germany and many more have laws protecting animals from a wide variety of abuses, and many of them hold a prison sentence.

For example, abusing a dog in the UK can lead to:

£5,000 fine (or more is its a serious case)

5 year prison sentence

Up to a life time ban on keeping animals
