It doesn't say in the book when the rebellion happens. You can assume that it happened a long time ago. That is because the book was written half a century ago!
The farmer represents the ruling class in the hierarchy of power on the farm in Animal Farm. Initially, he holds all the power and control over the animals, but is eventually overthrown by the animals who then take over the farm.

The name of the animal farm is Manor Farm. Once the revolution started, the animals changed it to, in fact, Animal Farm. As it progresses to the end of the book, the pigs change it back to Manor Farm. It's really ironic if you read it.

Actually if you get it from a local farm its unhealthier food because they take it straight out of the animal.
