Why is it good to harm animals?

Destroying habitats destroys animals' homes and food supplies. For example, the giant panda is endangered because there isn't enough bamboo. Humans are cutting down the bamboo forests for their own needs. Even though bamboo is a fast growing plant, they are being cut down faster than they can regrow. A giant panda's diet is 99% bamboo, with the other 1% consisting of small animals and other vegetation.

Killing endangered animals is never a good thing - well, maybe if that particular animal is about to attack humans, or an even more endangered animal.

But that's about it.

The reason being that Nature interacts in a very complicated way, and it's really hard to know beforehand what will happen if a species were to go extinct. Better then to try to keep them all around instead of risking an ecological collapse which might be difficult-to-impossible to correct.

As the top of nature's food chain, we have a responsibility to take care of the world's species. But there is nothing wrong with hunting for food. But we must be humane in all of our dealings with our lesser creatures.

It's never a good idea to harm an animal; except to eat, or in self defense, or for medical experiments to save the lives of people.
