Without electricity the caveman relied heavily upon solar power in its rawest most primitive form. Without electricity, there was little the caveman could do at night, that is, until the discovery of fire. It is not known which caveman exactly discovered fire as there have been no stone tablets documenting the discovery and if there are cave paintings that do so, it remains unclear which caveman first discovered fire. It is not even known if that caveman was a respected scientist of his or her community or whether he or she was considered a heretic. Actually....
It has long been accepted by archeologist's that Homo Erectus, the dominant species of "cavemen" that inhabited the Earth from about 2 million to 500,000 years ago, was able to control fires started by lightning strikes and other such events but were unable to start fires on their own. The actual starting of fires is believed to been discovered by later, more advanced species such as Homo Heidleburgensis or his decendant the much more popular and famous Home Neanderthalis. But that belief has been shaken to it's core by a recent discovery made in Gesher Benot Ya'qov an archeology sit in Northern Israel near a drained lake bed. The discovery there uncovered burnt flakes of flint chips dating back 790,000 years, Flint was the main method of starting fires of hundreds of thousand of years. It is not so much the discovery of burnt flint that leads to speculation that Homo Erectus may have been the first to start fires by their own will, it is the tools found beside that flint that suggest that Homo Erectus, the prototypical caveman, deserves more credit than they have given.
But the ability to harness fire was not nearly enough for the early cavemen as their teenage cavedaughters drove them nuts with their incessant complaining about always being bored, so it was the invention of Dixie Cups and the twining of string that actually gave cavemen the peace of mind that they might survive. When taking the sting and attaching it to tow Dixie Cups, the teenage cavegirls and caveboys could have "telephone" conversations with their friends and complain to them about how bored they were, leaving early caveman and woman some relative peace and peace of mind.
Cavemen survived without electricity by using Natural Resources such as fire for warmth, cooking, and protection from predators. They hunted for food and gathered plants for sustenance. Cavemen also utilized tools made from stone, bone, and other materials to create shelter and tools for survival in their environment.
