Many Hondurans are darker brown, some are lighter brown, some are white, some are black, some are a mix of white and black, some are a mix of black and brown, and everything in between. Hondurans are some of the most diverse Latin Americans, and probably the most heterogeneous group of people in Central America. Native Indian populations inhabited the area before the Spaniards arrived. Some Hondurans are of pure Indian descent, while many "white" Hondurans, like myself, are of pure Spanish descent. The majority of Hondurans are "mestizo," which is a mixture of Spanish and Indian descent. Many mestizos have brown colored skin, however, some have light skin color and some have very dark brown, almost black skin color. There are also many black people in Honduras, particularly along the Caribbean coastline. Most of these black people are descendants of the Garifuna tribe that was brought from Africa many years ago after the Spaniards arrived. There are also a minority of Palestinians and other Arabs in Honduras, as well as a small Chinese and Japanese presence.

Hondurans have brown, black, blond and red hair, just like Americans do, although many Hondurans have dark brown or black hair (same as America). Hondurans also have brown, green and blue eyes, most have brown eyes. I am of Honduran descent and have fair "white" skin and green eyes with dark brown/black hair. My father, who is actually from Honduras has brown hair and dark brown/black hair with fair skin (looks brown in summer). His skin is just about 2 shades darker than mine, maybe. My brother has brown hair and brown eyes with fair skin, about 1 shade darker than mine. I have cousins, uncles, aunts with brown hair, blond hair, green eyes, blue eyes and brown eyes.
