Zero as 40 carat gold does not exist
I could be wrong but i thought that a 24k gold ring was as pure as they got. If this is the case, 40k is impossible (well over 100% gold). It would have to also go by pure gold weight if this is the case.
you have .40 ctw. which is 40points total carat weight. carat is diamonds and karat is gold. also can be 3/8ctw. it is only ct as in 1ct solitaire if there is a single stone. all else is carat total weight.
The worth of gold as metal inside can be determined by its weight. Ring size 6 does not say how wide it is, or how heavy, but let us assume it is about 4 grams. In the 4 grams of 10 karat ring, you would have about 1.66 grams of fine gold. Today, the price per gram is about US $40. The gold in that ring of assumed 4 grams, would be worth about US $66, but you would get somewhat less in the jewelry store.
The value of a diamond depends on its cut, its clarity, its colour and its carat weight. A local jeweler can give you the answer you want.

The value of a 10k gold ring with a black onyx stone can vary based on factors such as the weight of the gold, the size and quality of the onyx, and the design of the ring. Generally, the gold content in a 10k ring makes it less expensive than higher karat gold, usually worth around $20 to $40 per gram for the gold alone. The onyx stone, depending on its size and craftsmanship, might add an additional $20 to $100 or more. Overall, the ring's worth could range from approximately $100 to $300, depending on these variables.
