There is no definitive price due to the varied nature of these pieces. I have seen them sold for between £5000 - £25000. A typical example would be if you can find an over the top ornate piece in bronze with grounded gold and it is in fine working condition you could expect £10000.
Ormolu
Antique stores. Ormolu is not made anymore. People associate it with heavily gilded bronze fixtures attached to hardwood inlay accented furniture and clocks but ormolu is actually the technique of gilding, not a style. If you are looking for more of the style, check out "Louis XV, Boulle, and French Empire". Ormolu gilding was outlawed in France during the 19th century due to the fact that craftsman working in the gilding forges were dying from mercury exposure prematurely - mercury being the element in the gilding mixture that gives antique ormolu it's renowned deep yellow glow that is still brilliant today.

I am not sure exactly what you are looking for but I have a very large assortment of ormolu pieces for attachment as adormnent to furniture. I would be interested in selling some of them if you are still in the market. Please respond here if interested and we can connect. My pieces all originate for me in Brazil where my grandparents were in the furniture business but I believe them to originally be French.
