You've got to give the country of origin, the year, and the denomination. Africa is made out of many countries, many of which have issued gold coins and even within a country the denominations can vary. For example, a 1/10th of an ounce South African Krugerrand is worth around $165 or so, whereas a full ounce Krugerrand can be worth $1700 or so depending on the price of gold.
The Egyptian tomb of Tutankhamun, also known as King Tut, contained a vast array of treasures and artifacts, including his golden burial mask, jewelry, chariots, and furniture. The discovery of his tomb in 1922 by Howard Carter provided valuable insights into the burial practices and beliefs of ancient Egyptians.
It's not so much that he "found" it-- rather, he stole it. In 1522, before he became famous as an explorer, he was a pirate. In the course of his travels, he captured a Spanish ship, which was carrying gold worth about two million dollars. It was not the first time that he and his men captured a ship (usually one from Spain or Portugal), but this was probably his most lucrative attempt.

Because of the Aztec's religious beliefs, when Cortes arrived in Mexico, the Aztecs believed that he was a god. The horses that the men rode and their much lighter skin coincided with a religious belief that they had and so, instead of trying to fight off Cortes and the Spaniards upon their arrival, the Aztecs treated them as gods; lavishing them with gifts and giving them food, gold and other supplies.
Montezuma thought that Cortes and the Spanish were gods so he treated them nicely until he found out that the Spanish want to conquer Aztec.
The Aztecs had a revelation that one of their gods, Quetzalcoatl, would return from exile in the east with white skin and a full beard in the year 1519. Coincedentally, Cortes fulfilled all of these conditions so montezuma though he was qutzalcoatl. because of this, montezma warmly welcomed Cortes and gave Cortes lots of gold, silver, and other valuables
