In the Stone Age, hunting to eat took up a lot of the people's time. So, they began hunting bigger things to prove how brave and strong they were. They began to view hunting as fun, and they (of course) enjoyed eating it as well. The women gathered berries and the like, and probably had fun by chatting and gossiping much as they do now.
