The Académie Royale du Nord(Northern Royal Academy) offered programs in medicine, surgery and pharmacy, agriculture, and arts and trades. After the unification of the country during the Boyer administration, the Académie Nationale de Port-au-Prince was created. It was followed by the Académie d'Haiti, which is the real predecessor of the current public university system, the Université d'Etat d'Haiti.
