My first guess would be you have the distributor in wrong. Give it a little shot of gas (prime it) down the carburetor and see if it tries to run at all. If nothing, gotta be the distributor is off. Put the engine at TDC (top dead center) and re-set it.
Run a compression test. If compression in all cylinders is low, it's probably the timing chain.
The 2003 2.5 CRD Jeep Cherokee has a cam belt not a chain
Timing is done by chain with an automatic chain tensioner. The accessory drive is a belt located on the front of the engine.
You don't mention the year or engine size but the 5.0 liter V8 has ( 1 ) timing CHAIN , the 4.0 liter SOHC - V6 has (3) timing CHAINS and the 4.6 liter V8 uses a timing CHAIN (s)
roller
it has a timing chain
The 3.4 liter V6 engine in a 2001 Chevrolet Impala has a timing CHAIN
Every 10,000 miles
There is no maintenance on the timing chain unless it breaks. No you don't change it.
All Chevrolet Impala's have a chanin that requires no maintenance or replacement under normal conditions.
The 3.5 litre V6 engine in a 2009 Chevrolet Impala has a timing CHAIN
no it uses a big rubber band, drive backwards to rewind it
It don't have a timing chain and if it did it would out last the engine. It should have a timing belt and it should be replaced about 60 thousand miles. Sorry I must disagree with my friend who is very knowledgable. The 3.5 Liter and 3.9 Liter Chevy V6 has a timing chain and not a belt. The chain will last the life of the engine.
On a 2001 Chevrolet Impala : Both the 3.4 and the 3.8 litre V6 engines have a timing CHAIN
All engines in this vehicle have a timing chain.
The 3.4 and 3.8 litre V6 engines in a 2000 Chevrolet Impala have a timing CHAIN
Chain.
