The first part of this answer is because under certain circumstances we don't make enough Co Q 10. The main reason we find people needing supplemental Co Q 10 is because of medications that deplete Co Q 10 in our body. Statin medications for example, which are medications use to lower cholesterol, block our body's production of Co Q 10 which causes a deficiency of Co Q 10 in our body. This is why a lot of people on statins, especially high doses of statins, complain of being tired.
