there is an entire scripture of Taoist morals, ethics and legal principles, called The Tao te Ching, or Dao de Jing ("Morality Scripture"). This is in the form of a collection of poems and stories by the Chinese philosopher Lao Tze.

One example, The Power of Selflessness:

Heaven is eternal, the Earth everlasting.

They can be eternal and everlasting

Because they do not exist for themselves.

For that reason they can exist eternally.

Therefore, Evolved Individuals

Put themselves last

And yet they are first.

Put themselves outside,

And yet they remain.

Is it not because they are without self-interest

That their interests succeed?

The principles are too numerous to do them justice in a short answer, but there are many English language translations of the scripture, two of which are The Tao of Power: Lao Tzu's Classic Guide to Leadership, Influence and Excellence (1986), by R.L. Wing, and Lao Tzu: Tao Te Ching (1963),by D.C. Lau.
