Painted by Leonardo DaVinci on the wall of the refrectory of the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie, Milan. One interesting fact is that there are lines of perspective that radiate from Christâ??s head, indicating that he is the focal point of the painting and gives symbolism as Jesus being the Light of the World. The apostles are grouped in 3â??s, with Judas(the Betrayer) being the 5th figure from the left. Judasâ??s position is of significance as the lowest in height of all figures. He is clutching a bag, considered to be the money bag which signifies his later betrayal and his role as the treasurer of the group. He is also tipping over the salt container, which has been speculated as being symbolic of a common expression of the Eastern nations of â??betray the saltâ??. Judasâ?? face is the only one in shadow, indicating that his distance from the light of Christ. Peter is holding a knife. pointed away from Jesus, and with an angry expression, a foreshadow of his behavior in the Garden of Gethsemane. Leonardo reportedly used faces of actual people for everyone except the Christ. He found faces among the people of Milan, as models. He was also reported to have spent considerable time looking for Judasâ?? face among criminals jailed in Milan prisons. Jesus originally had feet, but the painting as we now can view does not, after a new doorway was added to the refectory in 1650.

The Last Supper was the culmination of all the finest traditions of Renaissance art. It used composition and perspective, as well as psychological and emotional depth in a naturalistic way that was previously unknown. This painting helped set the standard for art during this era.
His paintings are visual. A painting as 'The Last Supper' may be said to have a literary quality.
Possibly one of the many which belong to a museum, or a mural as e.g. Leonardo's famous one in Milan. But there is no way of assessing the value of a work of art until it is up for sale. So you will never know.

The last thing to do when finishing an art painting, is to add your signature. The signature can either be on the front of the painting or on the back.
The Last Supper, St. Ann, and The Mona Lisa. I have seen several of his works and it seem impossible that a human could create art so beautiful.

The best way to find anything out about an unsigned painting is to take it to an art dealer. An art dealer will be able to examine the elements of the painting and tell you where it came from and who painted it by the style.
