femoral artery
The Aorta comes directly from the heart. Also, the Pulmonary Artery also attaches directly to the heart.
The Aorta is the largest artery in the abdomen. It comes from the chest.
If it is the femoral artery, you will bleed out extremely fast. Probably faster than it will take you to get to a hospital. Being the main artery in the leg that comes directly from the aorta, it contains an immense amount of pressure, which means, LOTS of blood.

It comes from an artery. Arteries carry OXYGENATED blood away from heart. This oxygenated blood is bright red. The Arterial system is on the high pressure side of the heart. The pressure changes as the heart contracts and then expands and refills (a heartbeat). When an artery is punctured the blood will spurt with every heartbeat.
