There is a leak in the brake hydraulic system and the brake fluid has leaked out of the master cylinder enough to induce air into the system and result in no pressure in the braking system. This is too dangerous of a situation to drive on. A vehicle in this condition needs to be towed somewhere to be repaired.
Likely a brake line or hose has ruptured and has leaked out a majority of the fluid. Also it is common for a caliper or wheel cylinder to leak, especially if the brakes have been grinding for a while and now suddenly there is no pedal pressure. All parts of the hydraulic system need to be inspected for leaks and repaired properly.

Your pedal will go to the floor for a few reasons. First, your master cylinder may be defective and/or empty. The master cylinder will be empty for a reason. Any or all of the wheel cylinders may be leaking, the brake hoses may be leaking or broken, a steel brake line may be rusted through and leaking or broken. A loose fitting will cause a leak too but this is not likely the case on such an old car. I would suggest you fill the master cylinder, bleed the brakes and when done, look for leaks. If you don't find any leaks and the pedal still goes to the floor, the master cylinder is likely bad. Carl King http://www.classiccarauto.com

Adjust the brake switch located on either the brake lever itself, or it will be attached underneath the dash. SOunds like your brake switch is off or broken. Look at the brake pedal and there is a switch around it that gets activated by you pushing the pedal - that is what needs to be adjusted or replaced. The brake light switch has probably come loose or broken. Look under the dash near the brake pedal arm. There is a switch attached to a bracket.

Attached to the brake pedal itself... if the pedal goes up towards the dash, you'll see it at the top of the pedal by the linkage... it's a simple contact switch. If the pedal goes into the floorboard, you'll have to open the hood and see where it goes through the floor... again, just a simple contact switch.
