Hi.
I had the same question in mind! I am on a unique dose of Toprol XL (25mg in the morning, 12.5mg in the evening). I recently began taking Omega-3 and One A Day to support a healthier living. I noticed that within 1 hour of taking all three at the same time, my heart rate increased dramatically, as if I was working out. I do not know if there is some sort of interaction that occurs when taken at the same time but I am beginning to think that is the case. I have had heart symptoms for a little over a year now, with no conclusive diagnosis. Hope others can throw in their 2 cents about this. It is really a pretty interesting question...
A palpitation can be felt when the heart beats too fast, too slow or irregularly--this is called an arrhythmia. Many things can cause palpitations including: dehydration, fever, drinking too much caffeine or alcohol, stress, anxiety, certain drugs such as diet pills, over the counter decongestants and some recreational drugs. Palpitations can also be caused by heart or lung disease. Some one having palpitations should be seen by a physicain to deptermine the cause and treatment.
One can find information on the causes of heart palpitations by asking one's doctor about what the causes are. One can also ask a nurse or go to a nearby clinic to get more information.
Heart palpitations are irregular or unusually quick beats of your heart. The heart may seem like it is vigorously beating out of the persons chest however in most cases this condition is not harmful but may be a sign of more intense heart issues. The causes of Palpitations are sometimes very hard work outs, an increase in anxiety or depression, or with females sometimes this may occur during menstruation or pregnancy.
It's certainly something that's potentially concerning. Another term for heart flutter is PALPITATION. It is the subjective feeling and awareness of one's heart beat. It can be slow, regular or fast. It can be regular or irregular. And most important, it can be sustained or terminate on its own. In older adults, Atrial fibrillation is the most common condition diagnosed when palpitations are associated with general and cardiovascular symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations and fatigue. In younger people, anxiety or panic attacks are more common, but arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms) are also common. Overactive thyroid is another common cause and easily uncovered by a blood test. It is true that certain drugs, legal and illegal cause heart fluttering. Cocaine and amphetamine ("speed") often cause the abuser palpitations. Cold remedies that contain decongestants (phenylephrine or pseudoephedrine) also lead to palpitations. Many prescription drugs are not tolerated well and cause palpitations. If you experience SUSTAINED (longer than a few minutes, not just a couple of seconds like when surprised) palpitations, see your doctor immediately. While a heart problem is suspected, often fixing the offending reason (drug or condition) will solve the problem. The most dangerous and serious outcomes of palpitations from a cardiac cause include stroke, heart attack and death, so getting diagnosed and treated quickly is paramount. Some heart "flutters" are far less serious than others. Your physician should be sure to differentiate a benign one from a potentially serious one by performing EKG's.

Yes it can. I started taking One-A-Day Prenatals in the beginning of my pregnancy, and no side effects. When I ran out I took the Prenatal Vitamins the Health Clinic provided to me. Two weeks after taking them I began to have heart Palpitations 10-30 minutes after taking the prenatals only when Im about to lay down. I called my Dr., he insisted on me to stop taking them. I stopped one day and the heart palpitations stopped. I took one again the day after and they begun again. Its beens a week since I've tooken the Prenatal and I have not had any heart palpitations since.

Coffee is fine to drink every day in moderation. There is no harm in having one or two cups of coffee each morning. Coffee can be beneficial to the health, as it provides antioxidants. However too much caffeine can cause problems. If you are drinking large amounts of coffee each day, it can cause heart racing and palpitations, as well as difficulty sleeping.

Naproxen sodium, or Aleve, is known to cause heart palpitations. If taking the medication causes noticeable changes to one's heart beat, it would be wise to stop taking it and switch to Tylenol or Motrin.
