It all depends on the repair shop. The prifit that is made on the parts is what pays for the overhead. They very well may charge a higher labor fee. If by chance they do allow you to furnish the part, then there is NO WARRANTY if the part is defective. So, if it is bad you will pay twice to get it right. Does the restaurant let you provide the food and they cook it for you???????????????
a diesel mechanic is just like any other automotive mechanic, except they fix trucks and other vehicles that have diesel engines.A diesel mechanic is a mechanic that specializes on fixing or building diesel engines for such vehicles as tractors, semi-trucks, or pick-up trucks that have diesel engines.
you can, just no flash photography.
It just cost me $735 from a mechanic I have always trusted. I have a 2001 L300.
Hey Starr===It varies from one part of the country to the other. It is probably an hourly charge and in Calif it can be from $150 an hour to somewhere in the central us which would be about $50 an hour. THESE ARE JUST GUESSES. GoodluckJoe
Sounds like a loose tappet in the header, though I'm just a back yard mechanic.
My mechanic charged me around $200 to $300 just for labor. My total bill was around $400.00 +
just bring the car to the trusted mechanic....
Yes, A professional handyman can charge you for just labor but keep in mind charges can be about 2-3 or sometimes even 4-5 times the materials cost minimally.
Just took mine in to my regular mechanic (not a Ford dealer), and the diagnostic charge was $58, parts and labor to repair the #4 cylinder will be $212, so a total of about $275 in my case.
If you have to ask that question then just bring your car to a mechanic, as if you have that little knowledge you will probably do more harm than good just by lifting the bonnet.
really, you idiots cant just bring science books home.
I've got a 2004 and my mechanic is telling me just over $800. About $350 for the parts and the rest is labor. $500 in labor? Seems a little high. Found a rack and pinion rebuilt on the internet for $250. Not sure how much I trust my mechanic anymore...
On a 1999 Chevy Malibu, the price to fix a rack will be on average 120 dollars. This is not the labor, this is just the part. Depending on the mechanic the labor will run anywhere from 50 to 150 dollars.
You must bring your car into an official Mazda Dealership. Bring all of your keys with you as they will have to "reset" the on board computer and register all keys at the same time. The cost of the key is about $40 and they will charge you about $90 for labor. Unfortunately, there is no way to get around the labor cost as you need a special machine to code the keys. the FOB is a different story. just buy one on eBay for about $30 and program it yourself.
Book Time is a predetermined amount of time established by any one individual mechanic or shop, that a particular repair should take. However, not all mechanics have the same time for each job - just as the labor rate varies at different places. Furthermore, the book time varies per make and model due to some vehicles taking longer to repair than others. This again is at the mechanics/shops discretion. Once the book time is established it gives the mechanic a reasonable allotment of time that a consumer can be billed for the work performed. It encourages a mechanic to work quickly. Time spent after book time usually is unpaid for mechanics. It also provides safety to consumers that a slow mechanic wont charge large amounts of labor due to there own setbacks.
File a complaint with the Department of Labor in your state. Just do a Google search for your state and the Department of Labor. It should bring up a website that will have the information that you need to file a complaint.
Get up and walk can hurry it up.
