I have had my tongue pierced for about a year now, and never once had a problem with it. I have cavities, and it doesnt make any difference at all. Just make sure you take it out when getting some dental work done [they make ask you to do so anyways].

Yes you can. Some orthodontists (and general dentists as well) require you to take them out during procedures, however, I would recommend finding another practitioner. You should also keep in mind that oral piercings can damage your braces. Braces are very expensive and cost even more if you need to get them fixed. If you get your tongue pierced, be careful.
