Depends on the circumstances. I have inflammatory and osteo arthritis in my hands. I take two meds for the inflammatory but being 70 and also have a host of other medical problems , they don’t want me on an oral NSAID . The gel is absorbed differently so both my Orthopedist and Rheumatologist recommended it. It helps when the pain is intolerable otherwise.
