Absolutely.You will want to make sure you prep and prime. If the surface you are painting is large or has a lot of nooks and crannies, you might want to consider electrostatic painting for a really smooth, like new finish.

One can use enamel paint on canvas. Generally, enamel paint is used on surfaces that will receive a lot of wear, or will be subject to the elements. However, it may indeed be used on canvas.

Oil paints on raw (unprimed) canvas would eventually rot the cotton fabric. A covering of gesso or acrylic is used to prime the canvas, on which the oil paints are then painted on top.
