The ancient Greeks were very religious and worshipped a lot of gods. But there is a huge difference between Greek and Roman religion and Christian and Muslim religion. Greek and Roman religion was strictly about keeping the gods satisfied by sacrifices, having them as protection against dangers or as sponsors of wisdom, the arts, love, trade etc. Greek and Roman religion - very much unlike Christian and Muslim religion - did not in ANY way prescribe how you should live your life nor did they set any morality rules for their believers, nor were they supposed to punish or reward you for the life you lived with hell or heaven. On the contrary, there were lots of stories about Greek and Roman gods being very 'human' in their petty jealousies, sexual antics etcetera. Priests did not bother with how their fellow men behaved; morality in ancient times was strictly a subject for philosophers - and lawmakers.
