Do architects build or they just design?

Not all architects design buildings, some work in other aspects of the building construction such as project management. Some architects design furniture, but this is not usually covered in architectural training.

Architects are responsible for the design process of a building and not so much the construction side.

They may oversee construction to ensure that a structure is built according to their blueprint but they are primarily responsible for the design aspect of construction.

Architects design houses, so they usually don't build them. They give their plans to a builder who them builds the house. However, it is possible for an architect to build a house if they had the skills to do so.

Yes, they do it all the time. I want to add there ARE architects who do build houses. Example is Frank Loyd Wright. He not only designed his buildings, but built them and created the furniture to go into the house or buildings. One of my favorites of his is the Waterfall house. This is built over a waterfall. You can see pictures of his work online.
