Alpine glaciers create distinctive features through processes of erosion and deposition. As glaciers move down mountainous terrain, they carve out U-shaped valleys and sharp peaks, known as horns, through abrasion and plucking of rock. Additionally, when glaciers melt, they deposit sediment in the form of moraines, which are ridges of debris left at the glacier's edge. These processes collectively shape the dramatic landscapes characteristic of alpine environments.
Pollutants can be deposited onto glaciers through atmospheric processes, such as precipitation and atmospheric deposition, where airborne contaminants settle on snow and ice. As glaciers accumulate snow over time, these pollutants become trapped within the ice layers. When glaciers melt, these stored pollutants can be released back into the environment, potentially contaminating water sources and ecosystems downstream. This process highlights the long-term impact of human activities on remote and pristine environments.
When glaciers move as they grow, they grind the ground and rock underneath them. These pieces are pushed forward while they grow. When they final begin to melt, the water that is in the glaciers flows out from underneath them. This often carried sand and small bits of gravel. As they melted further and faster, larger gravel and stones wash out. Finally very large rocks and boulders are left behind. All of these are called deposition.

I think that glaciers don't melt in the summer because glaciers form where it's cold like year long so it would be cold in the summer too. In cold weather ice doesn't melt.
Large sheets of ice that do not melt are called glaciers. Glaciers are formed when snow accumulates over time and compacts into ice, flowing slowly due to gravity.
