Does the current state of the Republican Party address the needs of the average American?

The republican party comes closer to the average americans needs from government than does the democratic party, however the republican parties biggest draw back is that it gives too much ground to the libertarians when negotiating in congress. Which has caused the party to become too liberal. The republicans do support business which is good. They support lower taxes and smaller government but their support of these two in the last two decades has been to only slow the growth rate of government and argue for smaller increases in taxes. This is no longer good enough they need to come on much stronger and actualy reduce taxes and overhaul the federal system to reduce its bulk by a large percentage with the power returning to the states.
