The sci-fi genre tends to stick to the same characteristics both in film and literature. In many movies, common tropes include space travel, time travel, alien (or robot) beings, supernatural elements, and super-advanced technology. The difference between sci-fi and fantasy is that sci-fi is always grounded in what can be scientifically possible.
1) Property Damage- the more irrational the more "hero-iffic".
2) Love Interests bordering on Co-Dependent or Enabling with deep Passive-Aggressive tendencies (I'll make you prove you really love me by deliberately getting into a dangerous situation and forcing you to save me at the most inconvenient times)
3) Toys far more cool than believable. But what is a super-hero without a little suspension of disbelief?
I don't know, this stupid Wiki Answers website won't put an answer. It seems they are just lazy bums. I'm not answering any questions for them. If you have a website you should be able to list answers. Du!
I may be many things but lazy isn't one of them!
Science Fiction comes in all literary genres, but the single underlying concept is that they are based upon either real physics and science or upon a self-consistant suspension of disbelieve. Just as any sufficiently advanced technology appears to be magic, any sufficently systemized magic is science.

PG (for sequences of sci-fi action and brief mild language)This answer is correct but I would also like to note that this movie was barley PG and is much too violent for a five-year old. It has intense violence and a small drop of blood that is exaggerated a bit too much. Even some websites still say it's PG-13 for sequences of sci-fi action and brief mild language)
