What are you asking? How to check for a head gasket leak? the symptoms include:
sweet smells from exhaust
real clean spark plugs because if the leak is in the cylender, the steam from the coolant will clean the plugs.
coolant in oil causing the oil to be a chocolate milk color
oil in the coolant
or just plain leaking out from the head as in where the gasket is.
I have a 98 Malibu and I know from experience that antifreeze can leak from the intake gasket. It cost me $400 to fix it. At first we thought it was tranny fluid because it was pink, not that! I have Dexcool in my car and that is what was leaking from the intake. Common problem for the 3800 II; GMs` later 3800s have ALUMINUM intakes; I guess they found the problem, yet they didn`t choose to fix the other cars.....bastards...
Probably, unless a cylinder has filled with engine coolant. In any case it is not a good idea to run an engine in that condition, if coolant mixes with the motor oil you can expect more damage to the engine.

Leaking hose? Defective thermostat housing or bad thermostat gasket? Bad water pump or gasket? Leak in radiator? Leak at heater core? Leak at head gasket? Coolant recovery tank?
A head leak can be detected by checking the coolant for CO ( carbon monoxide ) gas. Many repair shops can do this check for a nominal fee. WB
how do i replace a blown head gasket on a 98 Toyota corolla
NO DO NOT DO THIS. A BLOWN HEAD GASKET WILL LEAK ANTIFREEZE. CAUSING THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT. I AM NOT SURE HOW MUCH IT WILL COST TO BE DONE BY A PROFFESIONAL.
You may have a blown head gasket. This needs to be repaired before you drive the vehicle or you can blow your engine.
what is the question? why it would overheat???? if so: because -thermostat is stuck closed -or no coolant -or head gasket leak -or coolant system leak -or bad water pump -or clog in coolant system -or ......
A head gasket, for your 1998 automobile, will cost approximately $50. The price of the head gasket will vary from auto-parts store to auto-parts store.
THE CAUSE COULD BE A STUCK THERMOSTAT , OR A BLOWN HEAD GASKET, OR A LEAK IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD OR INTAKE MANIFLOD GASKET. A CRACK IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD IS VERY COMMON.. NORTY
One if it is a 4 cyl
If bad plugs is causing the misfire. It could also be bad plug wires, a vacuum leak, burnt valve, blown head gasket, etc.
It is on the passenger side, on the front head.
