How and why did Joseph McCarthy become notorious?

McCarthy was a US Senator from Wisconsin who made a name for himself in the 1950s as a staunch anti-communist. He made numerous unsubstantiated accusations of being communist sympathizers against members of the media and Hollywood.

Charlie Chaplin was born a poor child with his brother Sydney and mother Hannah struggling to earn a living by sewing. Hannah had a good voice and was eager to sing in the music halls of London but feared the unruly audience who jeered at women artist.Her first performance was a disaster when her voice faltered. The stage manager knew that Charlie could sing and pushed him onto the stage.Charlie sang a song and people threw coins on the stage halfway. Charlie excused the crowd that he would pick up the coins first and then sing.This had a comic effect.He later imitated his mother's Irish march song and several other comic antics. They list was never proven to be true nor real but joseph preyed on peoples paranoia on communism to maybe bring fame onto himself. If someone were to get on McCarthy's bad side, McCarthy would publicily announce that that particular person was a communist. He went so far as to say that Truman was a communist supporter. Also he hit rock bottom when one of his trials were televised and people saw that he had no evidence and was accusing army men. People were ashamed to have even believed him.
