use dark red and light black(navy).mix together and get purple.
Really good, my cousin had the two opposite walls red and vice versa the others purple. Also, I had red and purple brace elastics and they really do look fabulous together.

Try purple and red. Mix with yellow and green. The blue will have a slight purple tint but its a blue.
Mixed grey with black and white. Possibly balancing lightly with blue or purple depending on desired shade and medium.

No because black can take over any colour. For example water colours. When you accidently put black on any colour, it take over. Only blue and green turns into purple.

Assuming by 'plum' you mean purple - mixing red & blue together will give you the colour purple.
