Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Also you can try twisting the camera lens clockwise gently and it will go down. Do not push it down or else you will break it. Then try turning it on. It might work. There are several things that you can do to try to correct it. These home fixes seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors. If the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try. If you are looking to put presription lens into cartier frames, most opthamologists will do that after an exam to make sure you wear the correct prescription. Most will place the lens into the frames at no additional cost. Simply pay whatever your insurance would require you to pay out of pocket, and many will have no cost. However, if you need someone to put in lens that are not prescription, you would have to call around. Sometimes you can find the same size lens for a decent price, then simply pop them into the frame.
