to remove spray paint from any painted finish that has been baked on, simply use easy off oven cleaner available at local shopping stores. Spray it on and lightly wipe it off with a clean rag, it's EASY. Then wash your vehicle or other surface as usual. This will NOT harm your Baked on paint finish. This will work on many other surfaces as well. if in doubt test on an inconspicuous area first, and please Protect your eyes and skin.
For tougher jobs, Motsenbacker's Liftoff #4 (Home Depot, Lowe's, Ace Hardware) will remove spray paint.
Many cities use pressure washers or just paint over it.

∙ 9y agoUse exterior latex paint. It will look terrible. Be prepared to clean the awning cover first, use care. If it faded and needs to be painted, the integrity of the fabric is probably compromised. You will need to apply several coats and do not expect the color to be bright. ...the right way to paint a canvas awning is to not do it. Just get it re-covered. After the money and effort you will spend to prolong the life of the cover for maybe two more years you will regret not just doing it right the first time.
