How did Amelia Earhart impact the US?

Amelia Earhart was the first woman to fly across the Atlantic and Pacific oceans solo. She also won many aviation trophies and set many records.

During an attempt to circumnavigate the earth, AE's plane went down somewhere in the South Pacific and the whereabouts of the plane and her body are still unknown. Some believe that they have just found her bones on some small island.
