Artists often choose their subjects for reasons others do not know. And he did not DRAW them, he PAINTED them.
Claude Monet loved landscaping. Sometimes he would hire landscapers to help him terraform a garden or scenery into a beautiful arrangement to his personal liking. Then he would capture the landscape in his paintings to share his landscaping passion with others.
In my limited knowledge of 'art' , this would seem to be 'Impressionism' as practised by Claude Monet, Renoir, Cezanne, and many others.
At 10 year old Monet went to Le Havre secondary school of the arts. His first drawing instruction was with Jacques-Francois Ochard. At about the age of 15 the artist Eugene Boudin became his mentor and friend.
