There is measurable atmospheric pressure at the earth's surface. The pressure must be coming from something. Air offers resistance to movement independent of the effects of acceleration. It also supplies thrust and lift to aircraft; the movement of aircraft would be hard to explain without air.

Fill a tub with water, take a piece of paper and cup, then tape the paper inside the empty cup. then put the cup in the tub(filled with water) up side down, after taking it out you should see that the paper is still dry. This proves that air exist because it got trapped into the cup which kept the paper dry.

Thank you!

Air has mass; You get a balance, blow up a balloon, put it on one end, another balloon that you didn't blow up, on the other end. Air occupies space; Get a cup, turn it upside-down then submerge it into a basin of water. So air is matter. :)
