I suffer from rapid heart rate. I can be sitting and my heart goes from 69 bpm to 150 bpm while resting. The Emergency Room Doctors said to me when I was over 189 bpm "bare down as if you were having a bowel movement" and it does work most of the time. If you have a rapid heartbeat for over an hour get to the ER. However, never take medical advice from anyone other than your own Physician.

Don't. You can burst blood vessels or do other damage. If you want to slow your heart rate, try these two methods - 1. Relax and breath very slowly but deeply focusing on making your breathing very even and regular. 2. Hold your breath and relax while concentrating on your heart rate and try to "make" it slow down.

The second one will work but only for a very short time. When you start breathing regularly again your heart will speed back up. But this does prove to you that you can control your heart rate. Then move to the first method.
