Remove right front wheel (passenger side) Remove plastic shield behind (3 bolts) Loosen alternator and remove belt (loosen lower through bolt, loosen upper through bolt, turn tightening bolt on firewall side counter-clockwise to loosen belt) Loosen power steering pump and remove belt. The 5.3 liter Vortec Engine on the 2000 Chevy Silverado has a tapered crank shaft. The crank pulley has no woodruff key, is not indexed and is pressed on.
The only way to know which style tensioner you have is to remove the crank pulley and timing cover and look.
