Find the little slot on the side of the fob near the PANIC button. Insert a small flat blade screwdriver or a paper clip into the slot and twist to separate the 2 halves of the fob. Replace the 2 CR 2016 3 volt batteries and snap the fob back together.
Remove the metal key from the 2004 vw remote. There should be a small place under the key to push to open the case, and replace the battery.
Take out the key. Use flatblade on the slot which is visible under the key handle.
It looks like a Panasonic 1632 3V.
If the battery is dead the alarm will not go off
replace the battery on the remote, you open it where the key pops out :) this fixed mine.
Has to be disactivated with a drb 3. Your local Chrysler dealer can deactivate alarm. Although you may have to pay for labor time.
Connect the battery to jumpers from another charging source; while alarm goes off, if you don't have the remote key access, lock and unlock from the OUTSIDE of the driver side door. This will reset the alarm and therefore car can start again.

On Volvo S40 2004 onwards, when the remote key battery voltage is low a text message is displayed in driver's information message screen that the remote key battery voltage is low which means the remote key battery should be replaced. .ab.

There is nothing to reset. Just change the battery and if you have it in correctly it will work.
