How do you change the bulb on a nutone light fan combination?

You have to remove the fixture. Here's how for the Nutone bath light/fan combo that is a white square with a round white cover in the center. On a steady ladder get at eye level with the fixture. Slowly pull down opposite sides of the white plastic square. It should come down 3 or 4 inches. Metal wire clamps hold it in place. You squeeze the wire clamps on each end to release them from the frame. Now the fixture is hanging by the wire. Disconnect the wire at the white plastic junction. You mave have to squeeze a tab to release it. Put fixture on floor. From the top, rotate until you see an opening where you can press your finger to release the round plastic light cover. It should slide out. My light had a flourescent 26 volt bulb and an incandescent night light bulb. The flourescent had 2 pins. Could not find replacement at hardware store and had to go to a specilty light center. Hope this helps.
