How do you change the starter on a 2000 Dodge Neon?

If the 95 is anything like the 90, the bolts are right on the flange type part of the starter, where the starter meets the transmisison. there is 3 bolts holding it in. they are most likely 13mm, 14mm, or 15mm bolts. but on some caravan models you have to remove the front transmission mount to get to it. this is probabally why you cant find em'. but you will have to remove the mount, then the starter bolts. then you have your starter out! but when you want to put the mount back in, you may need a floor jack to lift the engine/trans um into the right spot to put the bolt back through the rubber part. Tricky, but possible.

There are two bolts that hold it in, the first you can see at the bottom of the starter, it also holds the ground cable on. The second is a long bolt which you need to crawl under the car to get at. Jack up the drivers side and look at the bell housing where the starter is. You will see the head of a bolt this is it. Just use a 15mm socket and extension and it will come right out. There are also two wires that need to be removed one is bolted on the selonoid the other clips in.The whole job can be done in about 15 minutes. ...Art ....remember to unhook your positive battery cable before you attempt to remove the wires from the starter. Remove fan motor 1st, 2 bolts size 14mm on starter,loosen bottom bolt from inside part of engine, top bolt from outside of engine or the right side of engine,don't forget the 2 wires on starter & the clip wire, took about 20 minutes

Here's how I did it..... Take the battery out, take the battery tray out... You've got two bolts, one runs through the front of the starter,(bottom) one runs through the tranny(TOP) into the starter.... Jack up the car, remove the bottom bolt, remove the top bolt from the top, Unhook the ground wire that goes to the radiator support, & remove the fan assy. closest to the battery tray.... After you get the bolts out tip the starter up, remove the wires....Take the starter out from the TOP..... Reassembly is the reverse... .....

I have a 99 Stratus. It's located in the front of the car next to the oil filter. You will need to remove the oil filter to get it out. Diconnect all of the wireing for the starter. There are 2 bolts holding the starter in place. simply remove the bolts and slide it out. replace it the same order you removed it. once you get working on it it's easy.

I have a 1998, 2.0 liter, 4 cyl with five speed manual transmission, the starter is located in front.

Disconnect the negative battery terrminal from the post on the driver's side.

Remove the air filter duct/air filter cover as a unit by loosening the hose clamp. it may be different on your particular model. With the air intake ducts and resonator out of the way the job will be much easier.

Remove the air resonator by loosening the hose clamp under the resonator on the air intake body.

Disconnect the two large wires from the starter and pull the one solenoid wire away.

Two bolts hold the starter assembly on. The one on top threads from the driver's side towards the passenger side and the one on the bottom threads the other direction.

The starter/solenoid come out from the front as a unit. Since it's a standard transmission there is no need to jack up the vehicle.

To install. reverse the procedure making sure to tighten the mount bolts to standard, connect the wires, and then the last step is to replace the negative wire to its mounting post.

First of all the starter is located between the engine and the radiator connected to the flywheel. there are only two bolts holding it on, but they aren't easy to get at. disconnect the battery and the wires connected to the starter. then remove the two bolts holding the starter on. you will need a socket set and some patience. keep in mind to remember how the wires on the starter go on. good luck.

The starter is located under the car where the transmission and engine meet toward the front of the neon. The starter actually bolts up with face toward the transmission. You must get the car up on ramps or on a hoist to see the starter. This is just a general method; it is very hard to give words to describe some of the steps without pictures. Removal: Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable. Raise vehicle on hoist. Remove starter bolts. Remove starter assembly. Disengage latch and remove solenoid connector from starter assembly. Remove battery positive connector from starter assembly. It is not necessary to remove the alternator output lead from the connector. Installation: Clean corrosion/dirt from the cable and wire terminals before installing wiring to the solenoid. Attach battery positive connector to starter. Ensure alternator output connector is snapped into the battery positive connector. Tighten the captive nut to 10 Nm (90 in. lbs.) . CAUTION: It is critical that the alternator output terminal be connected to the battery positive terminal of the starter solenoid, for proper operation of the charging and cranking systems. Install solenoid connector to starter. Ensure that latch is fully engaged. Position the starter face into transmission housing. Start bottom mounting bolt and thread in until bolt is snug. Attach ground cable to upper starter mounting bolt. Ensure the proper starter alignment before tightening the starter mounting bolts to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) torque. Lower vehicle and connect negative battery cable.

if u want a good answer we need to know the moter size.u will have to start by removing negitave battery cable from battery.then doodle on a peice of paper where the wires go on the selanoed on the starter u might wana mark the wires (like number 1,2,3 ect if it has more but i think only 3= 2 small 1 large.one small one goes to the same place the big one goes small nuts hold the wires on.take off wires take out the 3 bolts holding the starter and the replace with new one and put wires back...its not hard.if u don't know the starter is on passanger side for the 4.0 MIGHT be the same on 5.2 where the moter meets the trany.if u have the new one u know what it looks like.if not go up to a auto parts store and ask them to show u.be carfull think safety first use jack stands! good luck
