To winterize a Yamaha V-Star 650, start by changing the oil and replacing the oil filter to remove contaminants. Drain the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer to prevent varnish buildup in the carburetors. Next, clean and lubricate the chain, and check the battery; consider removing it and storing it in a cool, dry place. Finally, cover the motorcycle with a breathable cover to protect it from dust and moisture.
there is a small window located under the engine, it is a small circular window about the size of a quarter. have one person hold the bike up.. not on the side stand. the one person will need to be very low to the ground... 4-6 inches from road.. and if you see oil in that little window you should be ok.
