If it's worth anything at all, you could totally ruin it by cleaning. A friend of mine had two that she inherited, she tried to clean one and the paint smeared. She then stopped, took them to an art and antiquity dealer. They called her back in a week and told her they were about 300 years old and offered her $850 for the one she hadn't touched, and 100 for the one she 'cleaned'. - Bye- bye, $750 !

Have the job done by a reputable professional art restorer. If the painting is valuable (or of sentimental value to you) don' t try a DIY job.

Gently dab and wipe with a slightly moist sponge to clean an acrylic painting. Acrylics are not delicate. (It's plastic, for Pete's sake!) Don't worry. Chances are, you won't damage it.
