There are a couple of methods for de glossing enamel. One is to rough up the glossy surface with 60 or 100 grit sandpaper thereby giving the new paint something to adhere to. Two is apply a liquid de glossing chemical to the surfaces in question. Both can be found at any hardware store.

Just read the label on your primer can to make sure it is compatible.
