To get stage lights to flash or change in time to music, first of all you need you lighting controller to support this function. If you are using PC software to create a show, then you most likely can do this, as most computers have a microphone or line in jack, which could easily analyse audio signals. If you are using a conventional lighting console, look through the instructions to find steps to achieve this, or you can look on the back of the console for an RCA jack designed for audio input.
If you have all this, the next step is to start designing chases, which is what is used to make lights track to music on stage. Follow this link to another answer that I recently wrote explaining what a chase is in stage and theatre lighting:

Stepping into the Limelight is stepping into the bright lights that hit the stage.
only music without lyrics
For a photography studio there seems to be two main types of light; strobe and continuous. Continuous lights are called "hot lights". Strobe lighting has a very powerful flash, but no heat. There are also Tungsten lights, LED, fluorescent, HMI, Stage and studio, dj lights, moon lights, and portable lights.
There are three main types of track lighting fixtures commonly used in homes: linear track lights, monorail track lights, and cable track lights. Linear track lights have a straight track with adjustable heads for directing light. Monorail track lights have a flexible track that can be shaped to fit different spaces. Cable track lights use cables to suspend the fixtures, providing a more modern and minimalist look.
A single sound track only has one song on it and a sound track has many

On a stage... You might want to be more specific
Eight Track Sound System was created in 1999.
It's called a clapper board. It is for synchronizing the sound track to the movie track. The sound of the clap can be heard on the sound track and can be seen on the film track. See the link for more interesting information.
Ceiling lights like Chandeliers, Pendent Lighting, Flush Mount Ceiling Lights, Track Lights are called overhead lights.

The word "twinkling" has a short i sound, pronounced as "twink-ling." The word "lights" does not have a short i sound; it is pronounced with a long i sound, as in "ly-tes."
