Replace sending unit.
Even a small amount of diesel in a gas tank can cause problems. The fuel filter may gum up, as well as the fuel injectors.
it is a float in the gas tank that tells the fuel gauge where to be
It's inside gas tank. Remove tank, remove sending unit from tank, swap fuel pumps, properly re-install.
The fuel gauge gets a reading from the fuel level sender in your fuel tank. There is a float attached to a lever floating on the fuel. The lever moves ( as the fuel is depleted or refilled) along a variable resistor in the sending unit. The guage detects the variance in resistance, telling you how much fuel is in the tank.
If your car is not a Diesel, YES! It will harm your car. Diesel fuel is less refined than conventional gas. It has contaminants and water in it. You may end up with carburetor problems, and if you have fuel injecion you may have a very costly fuel injector repair on your hands. Please only use the fuel recommended for your car. Most cars nowadays have that printed on the inside of the gas tank door where the cap is.
Fuel level sensor circuit high. You have an open circuit in the fuel float or in the wiring to the tank.
The only float on an 89 Jeep is for the fuel level, and its in the fuel tank, attached to the fuel pump.
depends what you want to install the tank in if it is in a pickup, there are easy to install tanks available that sit in bed of truck some also have tool boxes built in

It is in the fuel tank.It is in the fuel tank.
Yes, you can store diesel fuel in a home tank. It will be important that you store it in a tank designed to hold diesel fuel and that it is stored outside in a location that will not create hazardous or safety concerns. You also need to maintain the tank and the fuel properly.

AnswerYour gas float has a crack in it gas is getting into the float and it weights down the float so the computer thinks your tank is low on fuel. think of your gas float like float in the toilet bowl....if the float in the toilet bowl has a crack in it. it will stay at the bottom of the tank..same thing with your gas float..itstays at the bottom of the gas tank. Chevy Dealer has the float for $155.AnswerYour gas float has a crack in it gas is getting into the float and it weights down the float so the computer thinks your tank is low on fuel. think of your gas float like float in the toilet bowl....if the float in the toilet bowl has a crack in it. it will stay at the bottom of the tank..same thing with your gas float..itstays at the bottom of the gas tank. Chevy Dealer has the float for $155.Also, had this problem with my '01 Silverado and read about it in other blogs. Recommendations were to add Techron Fuel System Cleaner for $11 to the gas tank. After a few days the fuel tank sensor started working again. Techron cleans the sulphur off the sensor, as advertised, allowing it to pickup an electrical signal and eliminating false or no readings and also shuts off the low fuel light. Worked for me even though I bought a new sensor to install in the tank if this didn't work but it did. Cheap easy fix so far!
Water in fuel tank, dirt/rust in fuel tank, algae in fuel tank, plugged/dirty fuel filter, dirty fuel injectors,
This is fuel injected.. No float exists. This question could also pertain to the level in the fuel tank, which uses a float.
If you mean the float that measures fuel level, it's in the gas tank.
