The latch itself is held on with bolts, easy enough to change. The release cable has to be fed down the inside of the rocker panel and into the trunk.
most of the time if you pop the trunk and look at the latch on the trunk itself you will see a defeat switch to disengage the trunk from opening without a key
I talked to a mechanic about that just today. He said there are no adjustments, they just wear out over time. The only solution is to replace the latch. About $60 to $70 for the part, and it's easy to do if you're mechanically inclined. It might cost $150 or more to have a shop do it. Until then, there's a trick -- if you hold the trunk closed, insert the key and turn it opposite from the direction to lock it, the trunk will latch. That's the only thing you can do until you replace the part. Sorry.
As follows from front to back: * Front bumper * Hood * Left fender * Right fender * Roof * Left door (and Left-rear door if applicable) * Right door (and Right-rear door if applicable) * Left quarter-panel * Right quarter-panel * Trunk-lid * Spoiler (if applicable) * Rear panel * Rear bumper

If the trunk on a Honda Civic will not close the locking mechanism may be jammed. Be sure to remove any obstructions on inside the trunk latch. If the latch is broken replace it.
just push up a bit the latch on the trunk. may need to wedge it to keep it there
The reason is because the cable connecting to the latch has already been over stretched. Changing a new cable should rectify your problem.
No it will not.
I bought a new part for my 1995 Honda accord EX four trunk door but it still won't latch. Can you help?

yes
Yes. There is a release lever on the inside of the trunk latch so the trunk can be opened from the inside. Page 84 of the Owner's Manual says "To open the trunk, push the release lever to the left. Parents should decide if their children should be shown how to use this feature."
there is a cable that runs from the trunk release lever to the latch inside the trunk. you should be able to disconnect it from the latch inside the trunk
