test it, the 2 big terminals are for the bat. and the starter. you have one or two small ones, using an ohm meter, check that you do not have any juice passing through the solenoid... the big ones (take off all wires) put 12v to one of the small terminals, did you hear/feel a click? now ohm the big terminals. the reading should be close to 0. If you did not feel a click try the other small one.
All that is inside your solenoid is a electro magnetic switch. when you turn your key to start, the switch (plunger) is pulled agents a spring to make contact and transfer power to your starter. (a small current turns on and off a larger current)
Things that can go wrong. the contact points of the larger current get pitted (wore out) or the windings of the small current break (wear out)
Right now I can not remember what the other small terminal do. I think it is hot (12 v) while you are starting, but not quite sure. You will not hurt anything by putting power to it if everything is disconnected.
It depends on which solenoid you mean. The STARTERsolenoid is integral to the starter.
The starter solenoid wiring diagram can be obtained from most International truck dealerships. The wiring diagram can also be found at most auto-parts stores.
Dead battery? Loose or dirty battery cables? Bad starter solenoid? Bad starter? Neutral switch?
Wal Mart company Drivers who work 5 days a week with 2 days off earn over 80 to 95 thousand a year. How do I know this?...Because I am a Wal Mart truck Driver and that is a Fact
its beside the shifter under the console. if your car is stuck in park, take off the console, and pull the shift solenoid out or engage it and then zip tie it to a bracket that doesn't move. and it will work from now on.
It's usually easier to remove the starter from the truck and do the work on a bench. Remove the bolts that hold the solenoid, put new solenoid in it's place. Reconnect.

You should ask an ingeneur if he nows how to check it. Or ask your buddies if they know
