You can use dark eyeliner (that blends with you complexion) and run it on both the top and bottom eyelids, closing the lines at the outer corners...to make the dark eyeliner more subtle, you can use dark eye shadow to make your eyes look more slender...I've done both and can see a dramatic difference!
Also, for me, i have really big eyes. Not like, huge, but pretty big :P.
I just put black liner on my inner-lashes, top and bottom, and use brown lengthening mascara with the extent of eyelash curlers. For me, it works very well.
