Measure the height of the walls (A), then the entire length of all of the walls, usually four, but sometimes more (B). Multiply A x B = C.
Measure the height (X) and width (Y) of all the cupboards - uppers and lowers, the doors, windows, etc. Multiply X x Y = Z (repeat this for each area/cupboard etc) add all of the Zs together and Subtract them from the number found in C. That will give you the square feet/meters. Check the paint can for coverage, divide the square feet/meters by the coverage and buy a little extra "just in case".
