Due to the granular structure of pressboard, the closest you could come to making it look like wood would be to apply a veneer. It's not pretty, bit it looks a lot better than trying to dress up a surface that will not ever look like real wood.
There are graining tools available that can be used to create a grain look on a painted surface. Paint the wall the color you want the grain of the wood to be, then after it's dried, apply the other color that you want to use for the meat of the wood. Use the graining tool to remove the wet paint exposing a pattern of the dry paint below. Some of the tools area very easy to use, just rock them back and forth to create a woodgrain pattern. With a little practice, it should look great!
