Its a long process, but well worth it if you know what you are doing.
First; the supplies you will need;
Self etching primer (about one for each tire)
Prismacolor high heat ceramic spraypaint in gunmetal (Some stores may sell actual wheel spraypaint, if they do, buy that, but if not, go with this)
200-300 grit sandpaper
Acetone
Lots of masking tape (3M blue and green works the best)
and lots of rags
First remove the tires off of your car, and place them on a level surface. Make sure they are 100% clean before moving on. After making sure they are squeaky clean, rough them up with the sandpaper, making sure to get ALL edges and faces. After that, use the acetone and wipe down the rim, making sure there is no residual powder.
Now place your tires on top of newspaper or some other medium to make sure that you will not spraypaint anything but the rims.
Mask off any areas that you do not want to get painted either, making sure to be extremely careful to get exactly what you want.
Now its time to paint, first lay down the first coat of primer, doing very light strokes on the first time, you should not coat the wheel entirely on the first time. After painting once, wait 10 minutes, repeat, keeping with the light paint strokes.
After you have gotten a good enough primer, wait 30 mins to an hour before doing the same process with the gunmetal paint. You may follow this with a few coats of clear polyurethane to make it as glossy as you wish.
After finishing allow the tires to dry one day, or at least 10 hours before putting back on the car.
Ta da, you have an awesome set of rims, with one 100th of the price. Just make sure you take your time and never get too eager, and it will be beautiful.
no it will make dark brown depending on the quantity
Yes, if you paint multiple coats to prevent transparency.
Yes you can .
Typically, you would want to lay down the lightest colors on the canvas and then paint over the light colors with a darker color. It looks better because if you did it the opposite direction, the darker colors would still show through the lighter colors to a degree.
Yes, you can because brown primer isn't that dark of a color.
It's a dark blue-grey, similar to gunmetal.
Gunmetal-gray is considered a dark color. It is a shade of gray that has a slightly metallic finish, giving it a darker and cooler tone.

A dark, slightly bluish green. It will probably be a kind of evergreen color depending on the amounts of paint.
Go to an automotive paint shop supplier that sells to body shops. They will be able to tell you exactly what kind of primer and paint will work best. It will probably be more expensive than paint you buy at a hardware store, but most car paint jobs last a very long time. As an alternative, go to a PEP Boys or other auto parts store that carries paint.
Gunmetal is prized for its durability and resistance to corrosion, making it an ideal material for various applications, including firearms, plumbing fittings, and decorative items. Its attractive, dark gray finish gives it a visually appealing aesthetic, often sought after in jewelry and hardware. Additionally, gunmetal offers good machinability, allowing for precise manufacturing processes. Its ability to withstand high temperatures and pressures further enhances its versatility in industrial use.
